Burmese woman trader robbed in Aizawl, Mizoram
A source said that five masked men carrying guns and knives came to the residence of a women trader Suithanmawii also called Mawitei at about 7:45 p.m. They looted Rs. 3 lakh and a mobile phone.
“They came around 7:45 p.m. and tied Mawitei and her sister, and a driver with solo tape. They were threatened and told not to shout and not to report to the police. Then they took her mobile phone and money,” said a friend of Mawitei.
The robbers did not speak the local Mizo language very well. No one has been arrested yet.
The robbery has been reported to the police station and the police have launched a hunt for the robbers in Mizoram.
Mawitei sells blankets from Myanmar in India. There are not less than hundred women traders in Mizoram State. – Khonumthung News.
