Mizoram-Guwahati Bus passengers fought Highway robbers
AIZAWL, March 30, 2010 (Zonet) – The Home Minister, Mr. R. Lalzirliana informed the House that the passengers of MST AC Bus proceeding to Aizawl from Guwahati foiled attempt made by the highway robbers early this morning.
Giving a statement in the House today, the Home Minister said, the highway robbers climbed on the roof of the Bus while it was slowed down at Kalain area. Seeing them the passengers stopped the Bus and fought back the highway robbers.
Some Mizoram Police personnel who were incidentally among the passengers used their service Revolver and fired them to drive them away. It was not known whether anyone of them was injured in the firing.
The passengers later picked up their luggages thrown on the road. 4 passengers however lost their belonging which is estimated to be of the value of 16 thousand rupees.
