Mizoram’s first Cricket Stadium Foundation Stone laid

Aizawl, April 15 (DIPR Mizoram/Sawlakia.com) The first ever Cricket Stadium in Mizoram – Lalsuaka Memorial Cricket Stadium foundation stone was laid today by Chief Minister Pu Lal Thanhawla at Sihhmui near Aizawl city.

The Chief Minister praised Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM) whose sole hard work and dedication has allowed the lying of the foundation stone. Pu Hawla said that cricket is the kind of game Mizos can play well; especially Mizos are specialised at throwing and catching things; he said he wished that Mizo youth will popularize the game.

“Since cricket is a big business in India involving crores of money,” he said that he is thankful about the wonderful work done by CAM, who has taken the leading role in making a way for youngsters to be part of this.

The land in which the stadium is being built was donated by Pu Rotluanga. The stadium is named in memory of his late father Pu Lalsuaka.

Funded by DONER Minister with Rs. 1,120 lakh, the CAM has started the construction work since June 2005, and half of the work is being finished.

The function was led by CAM working President Pu K. Lalbiakthanga, the constituency MLA and Zoram Nationalist Party President Pu Lalduhawma was the guest of honour. Chief Minister Pu Hawla was accompanied by his wife Pi Lalriliani. (Source: DIPR Mizoram)
