Rev Liangkhaia Biography
Reverend Liangkhaia (1884-1979) was the first Mizo Christian pastor/priest, a Church leader and an eminent historian from Mizoram, India.
On November 13, 2009, his 125th birth anniversary, a national seminar was held in Aizawl on the life of this man, an important figure in Mizo history.
Rev. Liangkhaia wrote 46 books and hundreds of articles in the newspapers and journals during his lifetime and his works on the origin, tradition and culture of the Mizos is used as textbooks in local institutions.
He was born in 1884 and died in 1974 at a ripe age of 90.
During the seminar, the speakers said Liangkhaia was not only a church leader and a historian, but a priest having successfully advocated the Mizo traditional way of Christian worship.
The legacy of Rev. Liangkhaia will live on.
